Track4Facts does not operate a server. The app has no user accounts, no registration and no sign-in. Recorded rides, measured values, vehicle data, photos and settings are stored in the app's database on your device; Video Studio recordings are stored as files in the app's storage on your device. Heart-rate values are stored separately in a dedicated local storage area.

No data is uploaded automatically to the provider. The provider has no access to your rides, positions, measured values, video recordings or health data and does not receive them.

Track4Facts itself transmits data only in the following cases, each described separately in this policy:

  • when you use a map view or the track assistant (section 4),
  • when you export, save to Photos or share a file or video yourself (section 8),
  • when you contact the provider by email (section 10).

Independently of this, data may leave your device through Apple system features that you enable yourself: device backups via iCloud or to a computer may contain locally stored app data such as rides, video recordings, vehicle data and settings, and workouts stored in Apple Health, including heart-rate values, are synchronised with iCloud if you have switched this on in your iCloud settings. Heart-rate values in Track4Facts and export files created by the app are excluded from automatic device backups; after restoring from a device backup, rides may therefore be present without heart-rate values. These processes are carried out by Apple; the provider has neither access to them nor influence over them. Which data is processed in this context depends on your settings and on Apple's privacy terms.

a) Location and ride data

To record a ride and to perform sprint, distance, lap and sector measurements, the app processes position, speed, elevation and time data.

Location recording continues with the screen locked and in the background while a recording is active; iOS indicates this with the system location indicator. The permission can be changed or withdrawn at any time in the iOS settings. Without it, recording and the measurement functions are technically not possible.

b) Motion and orientation sensors

For acceleration, braking and cornering analysis, the app processes the device's acceleration, gravity and rotation rate data through Apple's system interface (Core Motion).

c) Heart rate and Apple Health (optional)

Only if you enable the "Race Training" function and expressly grant access to Apple Health does the Apple Watch start a workout, measure your heart rate during the ride, save the workout to Apple Health and transfer the heart-rate values for the corresponding ride to the paired iPhone. There they are assigned within Track4Facts to the respective ride and to the individual laps.

Permission is granted through the watchOS system dialog and can be withdrawn at any time in the system settings or the Health app, with effect for the future. Without this permission, Track4Facts records no new heart-rate data; all other functions of the app remain fully usable. Heart-rate values already stored in the app, or imported by you from a Track4Facts backup (section 8), remain assigned locally to the respective ride until you delete the ride or the app.

Heart-rate data is used solely to display and analyse the heart-rate curve for the respective ride and for the individual laps. The provider does not use it for advertising, marketing, profiling or cross-device tracking, does not disclose it to third parties, and does not sell it.

d) Vehicle data and photos

In the garage you can create vehicles and optionally assign a photo to each. You can take the photo with the camera or select it from your photo library.

Camera permission is requested for taking vehicle photos and for video recording in Video Studio (section 3 f). For selection from the library, the app uses the iOS system picker, which passes only the selected image to the app and grants no access to the rest of your photo library. Vehicle details and selected photos are stored locally.

e) Settings and app state

The app stores your settings locally, together with technical state required for operation — for example the acknowledgement of the safety notice including its version and timestamp. This information remains on the device and is not transmitted to the provider.

f) Video Studio: camera, microphone and video recordings (optional)

Video Studio is optional. A video recording only starts if you explicitly choose “Set up video” before a measurement and confirm with “Start measurement + video”. The preview in the camera setup does not record anything. Siri, Shortcuts and Apple Watch only start measurement recordings without the camera. Video recording can be switched off entirely under Settings > Video.

For a video recording, the app processes:

  • the image from the rear camera (road camera),
  • optionally the image from the front camera (driver camera) if you switch it on; it will usually show your face and possibly passengers,
  • optionally sound from the microphone, only if you switch sound recording on.

Camera and microphone are only used while the app is open in the foreground; locking the device or switching apps pauses the video recording. iOS indicates camera and microphone use with its system indicator. iOS asks for these permissions on first use; you can revoke them at any time in the iOS settings. Without them, only the video features are unavailable; all measurement features remain usable.

Original recordings are stored locally in the app's storage on your device and are not copied to your photo library. They are not transmitted to the provider or to third parties. In Video Studio the recordings are combined with the ride data already stored locally for that ride, such as speed, times, G-forces, route, altitude and distance, and optionally vehicle details and heart-rate values. This processing, including generating the preview and the export, takes place entirely on your device.

Heart-rate values only appear in a video if you switch the heart-rate display on yourself. It is off by default, is not switched on by saved templates and requires your separate confirmation for every single video export. This confirmation is independent of the Health permission and of the setting for heart-rate values in backups and CSV files (section 8).

Please note: besides you, videos may show other people, vehicles, number plates, conversations and recognisable places. You are responsible for your recordings and for passing them on. Before sharing, check who and what is included in the picture and sound.

For map views, route display and the track assistant, the app uses Apple Maps (MapKit).

When you open a map view or have a recorded route matched against the road layout, the requests technically required for this — including coordinates — are transmitted to Apple and processed there under Apple's terms.

The provider operates no map service of its own for these functions, does not receive these requests and has no access to them. Information on Apple's data processing: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/

Apple may also process these requests outside the EU, in particular in the United States. The safeguards Apple uses for such transfers, such as standard contractual clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, are described in Apple's privacy policy.

Supported external Bluetooth GPS receivers can optionally be connected. Bluetooth access serves solely to connect to these devices and to receive the position and speed data they provide. This data is processed locally, like all other ride data.

The hardware, firmware and any services of the respective device manufacturers are outside the provider's control. Where an external receiver or its manufacturer itself processes or transmits data, the respective manufacturer's terms additionally apply.

The Apple Watch displays values from the running recording and can start and stop it. Data is exchanged directly between the iPhone and the paired watch through Apple's system interface.

The Live Activity displays values from the running recording on the lock screen and in the Dynamic Island of the same device. No data is transmitted to a server for this purpose.

Track4Facts provides the system with shortcuts for starting and stopping a recording. They can be triggered through Siri, the Shortcuts app and the Action button. A spoken command is processed by Siri; depending on your device and settings this happens on the device or on Apple servers under Apple's terms. The app receives only the start or stop signal from it; no voice recordings or texts of these commands reach the provider. Siri, Shortcuts and the Action button control the measurement recording only, never the camera (section 3 f).

Spoken announcements are generated locally on the device by the iOS speech synthesiser. No speech or text data is transmitted to the provider.

The app contains no analytics, tracking or advertising libraries, no crash-reporting SDK and no third-party services for usage measurement. No advertising identifier (IDFA) is used and no cross-device recognition takes place. There is no profiling and no automated decision-making.

This is to be distinguished from information that Apple makes available to the provider at operating-system and App Store level; that is described in sections 9 and 11.

You can export rides as a GPX file, as a CSV file or as a comprehensive backup. An export is always initiated by you; you then decide via the iOS share sheet which app, person or service the file is sent to. The provider does not receive these files.

A separate rule applies to heart-rate data: it is excluded from all exports by default. Only if you enable the separate setting "Heart rate in backup & waypoint CSV" after an explicit warning will future backups and waypoint CSV files contain time-aligned heart-rate values. GPX and motion CSV files never contain heart-rate values.

When you import a Track4Facts backup, any heart-rate values it contains are assigned locally to the respective ride, even without Apple Health permission. The setting for heart-rate data in exports is not itself part of a backup and must be enabled again on another device. Export files created by the app are excluded from automatic device backups.

Disabling the setting later prevents heart-rate data in future exports. Files that have already been exported or shared are not altered by this and can neither be recalled nor deleted at a third party.

Video exports and video backups

A video is only exported when you start the export in Video Studio yourself. This creates a new MP4 file; the overlaid ride data then becomes a permanent part of the video image and can show where, when and how fast you drove. The app does not write location information into exported videos as metadata. For “Save to Photos”, iOS asks for a permission that only allows the app to add videos, not to read your photo library. With “Share / Files” you choose the recipient yourself via the iOS share sheet.

Original recordings can be saved or shared as files under Settings > Video > Video storage. Under Settings > Backup & Export > Video backup you can save camera originals and layouts as a separate .t4video archive. The regular app backup contains no videos. These actions also only start at your request; the provider does not receive the files.

If your photo library is synchronised with iCloud Photos, a video saved to Photos may be transferred to Apple according to your settings. Copies in Photos, Files or with third parties remain when you delete the video or the ride in Track4Facts, and cannot be recalled or deleted by the provider.

Once you transmit a file to a third party, its further processing is governed by the recipient or service you have chosen.

The full version is offered as a one-time in-app purchase. Purchase, payment and restoration are handled entirely through the Apple App Store and Apple's StoreKit interfaces.

The provider receives no payment data, no credit card or bank details and no access to your Apple ID. Apple makes sales and transaction information available to the provider through App Store Connect; this does not give the provider the names, addresses or contact details of purchasers. Apple's privacy terms apply to Apple's processing.

The "Rate the app" option in the settings opens the review page in the App Store. Reviews are processed by Apple; the provider receives no contact details through them.

If you contact the provider by email, the provider processes the data you send: your email address, the content of your message and any files you choose to attach. This data is used solely to handle your request and any follow-up questions.

The app offers aids for this that are used only at your initiative. A message is transmitted only when you send it yourself from your mail app:

  • "Send feedback by email" in the settings opens an email draft to support@track4facts.com containing the app version, iOS version and device model.
  • If the app cannot open its database, it offers "Send Diagnostics". The draft contains technical details such as app, build and system version, device model, language and region, the error description with anonymised file paths and the program state at the time of the error, free storage space, and the size and state of the internal database and marker files. It contains no ride, location, motion or heart-rate contents. If no mail app is available, the report is copied to the clipboard.
  • A long press on the version entry in the settings copies a technical support report to the clipboard, including app and system version, device model, language and region, location permission and recording status, connected GPS receiver, measurement and display settings, number of stored rides and full version status. It leaves the device only if you paste it into a message and send it yourself.

Ride, location or health data reaches the provider only if you deliberately attach it to a request. Please send such data only to the extent it is necessary for your enquiry.

The data is deleted as soon as it is no longer required for handling the request and no statutory retention obligations apply.

If you have consented to sharing with app developers in the iOS settings under "Privacy & Security" → "Analytics & Improvements", Apple may make crash, performance and diagnostic reports available to the provider.

These reports contain technical details about the device model, operating system version, app version and error state. Track4Facts adds no ride, location or health data to them.

The scope and content of these reports are determined by Apple. You can change your consent in the system settings at any time.

Where processing of personal data is attributable to the provider under data protection law, it takes place, depending on the operation, on the following bases:

  • to provide the app functions you have requested, on the basis of Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR;
  • with regard to map display and route matching, on the basis of Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, as these functions cannot be provided without transmission to the map service;
  • with regard to heart rate as health data, on the basis of your explicit consent under Art. 6(1)(a) in conjunction with Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR; this also applies to the separate confirmation to include heart-rate values in an exported video;
  • for support requests connected with a contract or pre-contractual measures, on the basis of Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, and otherwise on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; the legitimate interest lies in handling enquiries and in error analysis.

Processing of ride, sensor, video and health data takes place on your device. The provider is not technically involved in this processing and does not learn its contents.

Consent you have given may be withdrawn at any time with effect for the future.

Locally stored recordings, video recordings, vehicle data, photos and settings remain on your device until you delete them. Individual rides can be deleted within the app; their locally stored heart-rate values are removed at the same time. You delete a ride's video recordings in Video Studio via “Delete video only…” or under Settings > Video > Video storage; the measurement data is kept. Exported videos in Photos, Files or with third parties are separate copies and are not deleted by this. Deleting the app removes the data held in the app's storage.

Device backups that already exist at Apple or on a computer are not deleted automatically as a result. Their management is governed by your backup settings and the functions Apple provides.

Workouts stored in Apple Health are not deleted along with a ride or with the app. You manage these in the Health app. Whether Health data is synchronised with iCloud depends solely on your own iCloud settings and is outside the app's control.

Section 10 applies to support requests.

Where personal data is processed, you have the right, within the limits of applicable law, to

  • access to the data processed,
  • rectification of inaccurate data,
  • erasure,
  • restriction of processing,
  • data portability,
  • object to certain processing, and
  • withdraw consent you have given, with effect for the future.

Because the provider does not receive your locally stored ride, location, sensor, video and health data, the provider cannot give information about that data and can neither rectify nor delete it; it resides solely within your control on your device. This does not apply to data you have sent to the provider yourself, for example as part of a support request.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority if you believe that the processing of your personal data infringes data protection law.

The app is intended for adult drivers and is not directed to children. Its age rating on the App Store only reflects that the app contains no objectionable content. The provider does not knowingly collect personal information from children, and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 in the United States. If you believe a child has sent the provider personal information, for example by email, please contact support@track4facts.com and it will be deleted.

No collection by the provider

Track4Facts PRO processes your data on your device. The provider does not collect, receive or store your rides, location data, motion data, video recordings, audio or heart-rate data. Information reaches the provider only if you send it yourself, for example in a support email (section 10), or as summary and diagnostic information provided by Apple (sections 9 and 11).

No sale, no sharing, no targeted advertising

The provider does not sell personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising, as these terms are used in the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), and in comparable state privacy laws. The app contains no advertising, analytics or tracking libraries and does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA).

Consumer health data

Heart-rate values from Apple Watch are optional, require your permission in Apple Health and are stored only on your device. The provider does not collect, sell or share consumer health data within the meaning of state health privacy laws such as the Washington My Health My Data Act. Heart-rate values are only included in a backup, CSV file or exported video after your separate, explicit confirmation (sections 3 c, 3 f and 8).

Camera recordings and biometric information

The optional driver camera may record your face and the faces of passengers. The app does not perform face recognition and does not create face geometry, faceprints or any other biometric identifiers or biometric information from recordings. Recordings remain on your device unless you export or share them yourself.

Precise location

The app uses precise location only to record rides and provide its measurement features. Location data is stored on your device and is not used for advertising. Map requests are handled by Apple as described in section 4.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

The app does not track you over time or across third-party apps or websites. There is therefore no tracking that a "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signal would need to switch off.

Your privacy rights

Depending on the state you live in, you may have the right to know about, access, correct and delete your personal information, to opt out of its sale, sharing or use for targeted advertising, and to appeal a decision about your request. Because the provider does not hold the data stored in the app on your device, such requests usually concern only information you have sent by email. Send requests to support@track4facts.com. The provider will reply to the email address the request came from and may ask for information needed to verify it. To appeal a decision, reply to it with the subject line "Appeal". You will not be treated differently for exercising your rights.

This privacy policy may be adapted if legal requirements or the functionality of the app change. The version published at the time applies. The current version is always available at https://track4facts.com/en/privacy.html with its "Last updated" date. Material changes are also mentioned in the app's release notes on the App Store.
